Now that we've been open for awhile, I'd like to see what people have to say about how things are run around here! I'm most curious about what everyone thinks of how our templates are organized. Should we add more labels, strip some out, change that whole system with something? Why are people timid to post in the general talk forum? And why aren't people too eager to request a template?! Let me know!

I REALLY love the way the templates are organized in this. So I don't really have anything to respond to that.
As for general topics and things, I think it helps more if staff starts talking in them more so people I dunno start seeing this. The thing with resource sites is a lot of people use it just for it's resources, but in order to really get a community you need people talking.
Also, a thing that might help is more discussion boards, like a place to ask about different rp stuff, critiques on more then just templates? Like plot ideas, and such? I dunno just ideas x3

I think setting up some forum games would be helpful, too. People always seem to like getting involved with games, not matter how many times they've seen them before.

And why aren't people too eager to request a template?! I think at this exact moment in time the 30 coins part might be off-putting, purely because those coins aren't the easiest to get right now. With the Chatter board not being very active, people can post an introduction and a reply to how they found the site, which would get them 15 coins, but if they don't have their own site to advertise or aren't very code savvy, then they're kind of stuck for other ways to earn points. Once those boards are more active I think it'll be a lot easier, and I still stand by the games idea - they're quick and easy points that anyone can grab.

So. More forum games. More RP discussions might be nice? Shall I set up a topic a week? Maybe a little sit-down to discuss the aspects of RP? How about interactive tutorials on template making?

Your interactive tutorials idea gave me an idea. If you've heard of CodeAcademy, how they have the code on the left and the output on the right, maybe I could make something like that to help with that? Of course, that'll only happen if I'm not too lazy.

I was thinking more along the lines of maybe challenges like several people build a template line by line or some of the veterans teach how to do a CSS trick but hey that's kinda cool rofl

There still needs to be a way to limit incoming requests! But I agree at this moment in time, that's a problem. But while there are no requests coming in, there's nothing really to actually be limiting. It seems more like the sort of thing you bring in as and when it becomes an issue. How about bringing in a bit of an 'offer' or something. Like... first 10 requested templates are free, but you can only have one per member. I think seeing that board looking active will also help. Want me to post up a few games?

Tbh I think having to pay for getting a template made is actually kinda off putting itself. I'd kind of understand if it was already getting out of hand or if you were a graphic based site that just also allowed template making. Since the site is so new I don't think you'll really have a problem with too many requests and if it does come to that point then I agree with what Riley said about the free offer or lesser cost. Or you could possibly set it up so members can only have three active requests up at a time. And if their request or requests don't get snagged and completed then that's not their fault and shouldn't have to waste 30 coins on something theyre not guaranteed to get. Maybe you could bring in the coins then? Or atleast have some kind of way to help out the members who are just left hanging without making them waste coins. Because if you require people to spend money that's difficult for new members to get right away just to request a simple template on a template based site, more than likely they'll probably just go to another site that allows you free reign on requests. Just my two cents I forgot if its already like this since its been a bit since I joined but maybe give them 20 or 30 coins just for joining, so that way they can buy or request something right away and might give them more reason to stick around and try to build up their bank? I know the games and general discussion will deff make it easy to make bank.

I know the games and general discussion will deff make it easy to make bank. The one thing where you're wrong is here is that you don't pay till the request is done So you're not losing coins at all until it's over and done with. I still think that there should be an incentive for people who want to request, and that incentive is to get coins. That's 6 posts in the general forum, woopdedoo. Or starting 3 threads. Woopdedoo. You're making it sound like I'm making you break your back, when I'm just trying to get a bit of activity out of you before you start requesting templates from us. There still needs to be a way to limit incoming requests! But I agree at this moment in time, that's a problem. PM me with what you're wanting to do.

i know that this thread is pretty much dead, alas, here i am.
i think the only thing that this community lacks is consistent activity from the staffers. i'm not trying to say that you guys suck. you guys rock and i know that life can be a bitch, however, i realize that since incoming templates are completely reliant on the staff to approve them, the fact that so many templates sit in the harbor for ages make template creators (at least myself) feel a bit reluctant to submit anything here because i feel like it's just going to sit in the harbor and collect dust.
again, i'm really trying not to complain, i just feel like this is a problem that's been going on for awhile that no one has brought to light and i think could possibly make this site a lot stronger. idk, maybe look into getting a couple more staff members whose jobs only entail making sure that the submitted templates have previews and whatnot? THQ is a resource site that i want to use and provide all of my love and templates for but feel like i can't.

More than 90% of the time, new templates don't get preview images posted with them, and the author of the template doesn't ever check in again to modify it. I log in every day, and there haven't been any templates to approve for a long time.
